Mattermost Desktop Github

Mattermost is an open-source, self-hosted alternative to Slack. It is a team communication tool that allows users to send messages, share files, and hold video and audio calls. It also provides a RESTful API that allows developers to build integrations with other tools and platforms.

There is no official Mattermost Desktop application from Github, but you can use Mattermost’s web application on your desktop by using a web browser, or there are third party developed apps that you can use such as “Mattermost Desktop” and “Mattermost for Desktop” but these are not officially supported by Mattermost and could be less stable or secure.

As for integration with Github, Mattermost provides a Github integration that allows teams to receive notifications of events such as pull requests, issues and commits, and also allows users to interact with Github events directly from Mattermost. Mattermost’s Github integration is built on top of the Github webhooks and Github APIs, and it allows to create a Github bot that can be configured to listen for specific Github events and post updates to a Mattermost channel.

As I mentioned earlier, there is no official Mattermost Desktop application from Github, but you can use Mattermost’s web application on your desktop by using a web browser, and you can find the web application on your mattermost server.

To use Mattermost on your desktop, you will need to:

  1. Set up a Mattermost server, if you don’t have one already. You can find instructions for setting up a Mattermost server on the Mattermost website: https://docs.mattermost.com/install/install-ubuntu.html
  2. Once your server is set up, you can access the Mattermost web application by going to the URL of your Mattermost server in a web browser.
  3. Log in to the Mattermost web application using your Mattermost account.

As for Mattermost Github integration, you can find more information about the integration in the Mattermost documentation: https://docs.mattermost.com/developer/github-integration.html

It describes the setup process, configuration and usage of the Github integration.

It’s worth noting that, while the web application provides a similar experience as the desktop app, it does not have the same level of integration with the operating system, such as system notifications and shortcuts, but it has the same features and functionalities.
